From project preparation in 2019 through support for its editions up to 2024, the work focused on communications and visibility for the Cyber Africa Forum. Its first edition took place in 2021. Media relations and content about the Forum’s themes helped build its profile among public decision-makers, businesses and Africa’s cybersecurity community.
Build awareness of a new pan-African event dedicated to cybersecurity and digital sovereignty, then sustain its visibility across successive editions. The Forum needed to make its themes accessible and bring together public decision-makers, businesses and industry specialists.
The three challenges
The engagement covered strategic briefings, press kits and visual materials for the Forum, including posters, banners and other communication assets. More than ten opinion pieces on the Forum’s themes were also published.
Media relations engaged pan-African, French and international outlets, with editorial reach across more than fifteen countries. More than one thousand articles were generated around the CAF. Coverage included Intelligence Online and extended beyond outlets specialising in African affairs.
Partnerships were negotiated with France Médias Monde, the Médi1 group for television and radio, Quartz Africa and TechCabal, among others. This helped bring the Forum’s themes to different audiences.
The engagement included work in France and Côte d’Ivoire, as well as online. Goudet Abalé also served for several years on the CAF organising committee, with responsibility for communications.
From 2019 to 2024, Goudet Abalé contributed to communications for the Cyber Africa Forum alongside the teams involved in its successive editions, from project preparation through delivery. He also served for several years on the organising committee, with responsibility for communications.
